Let’s start with a change!

Stories are easier to tell when there’s something to tell. And that’s the problem right now. Not much exciting is happening. That’s why I’m making a change.

How I envisaged 100ideasss:

I decided to give each of my 100 ideas a maximum of three attempts. That meant contacting three companies to ask if I could send them an idea. If that didn’t work out, I wanted to publish the idea here. That was the plan.

How I did it:

First of all, I gathered together some old ideas of mine that had cropped up over the last few years and were lying around somewhere in my notes. To structure my workflow, I then put together a table in which I grouped 10 ideas together under a single topic. For example, on the topic of ‘Old Ideas’. For each idea, I came up with three companies and researched their contact details. To do this, I checked the company’s website, asked ChatGPT, and looked up LinkedIn profiles or Instagram pages. I then sent messages explaining my project in a single sentence and asking if I could share an idea with them.

Let's start with a change – 100ideasss project tracker table showing 10 ideas with up to three contacts each, colour-coded by status: enquiry, decline, acceptance, no reply, idea sent, and published.

How things have gone so far:

Out of over 60 messages regarding 20 ideas, I’ve received the go-ahead in four cases. That means I’ve created four presentations and actually delivered them. One of these was turned down, and in another case I never heard anything back. The other two ideas are currently in limbo.

How I plan to move forward:

I like surprises and I like creating presentations. So I’m going to do more of what I like. From now on, I won’t ask for permission to share my ideas; I’ll just whip up a presentation straight away and send it off. And suddenly, it’s much more of a surprise to check my inbox. Have they had a look at the idea yet? Did they like it? Do they want to go ahead with it? Or have they decided against it? That’s fine too! From now on, I’ll give my ideas a maximum of three attempts, though some might only get one. Whatever feels right and natural. And then there should be plenty more to tell you about before long.
